Question

I am just going throught the chart of accounts before I start using quickbooks. I can see a debtors account but not a creditors account, is it called something else?

Glad to have you here, accounts243.

The default accounts that you can see in your Chart of Accounts depend on the industry or type of business selected when the account was initially set up.

More accounts will be added as you go along and after creating transactions in your account. For example, the Creditors account (shown as Creditors by default) will automatically show up once a bill is recorded in the system.

Although, you can also manually add or edit accounts in Chart of Accounts. Here's how:

  1. Click the New button in the upper-right hand corner of your Chart of Accounts.
  2. Select the correct Account Type and Detail Type.
  3. Enter the other required details and click Save and Close
