Question

I closed a bank A/C, so live feed stopped - I'm ok with that. But - the historic info is gone, even info I uploaded from statements since 2019. How can I recover this?

More detail:
the 'link' is still there.  And the option for that bank account is still there.  Yet, 5 years worth of info has disappeared.  I don't understand why this might have happened.  I didn't delete any info from that bank.

No worries, I’m here to help sort this out, Zac.

The most common reason why information or data files are disappeared from the system could be someone deleted them intentionally or caused by data issues.

You mentioned you’ve uploaded the events from statements. Did you categorize them, or they stayed in the For review tab? If your transactions remain under the For review tab, QuickBooks Online deletes them automatically once your account is disconnected.

On the other hand, if the transactions are already added to your books, you'll want to check your Audit log to verify if someone made this change. The Audit log feature contains everyone's records or activities.

Here’s how:

  1. Go to the Gear icon and select Audit Log.
  2. Use the fields on the Filter panel to choose the appropriate User, Date, or Events to narrow the results.
  3. Select Apply.

If everything is unchanged, you can perform some troubleshooting steps to rectify this. First, open your QuickBooks account in an incognito or private window for testing. Here are the shortcut keys below for quick navigation:

  • Google Chrome: Ctrl + Shift + N
  • Safari 11 or newer: + Shift + N
  • Mozilla Firefox: Ctrl + Shift + P
  • Microsoft Edge: Ctrl + Shift + P

From there, check the missing info. If it's intact, get back to your regular browser and clear its cache. Doing this helps the program to run smoothly. You can also use other supported browsers as an alternative.
