I need to record a dividend, all the solutions online suggest creating a dividend require me to set up a retained earnings account (a second one) yet you can't! Help?

The DivPaid account is an "Equity" type account. It is considered to part of RE, but is shown separate just for clarity of tracking Dividends paid.
