I want to do an overhead report for last month but when i get a quick report it is showing invoice dates as opposed to what was actually spent

What account are you running the Quickreport on?

You could run a profit and loss report and set the date period to last month, and can customise the report to only include specific accounts by going to Customise > Filter > Disctribution account > Select specified.
