Hello AlexV,

Thanks very much.  This report is quite helpful and the sales price is showing, which is great.  Only thing is that there isn't a total for the price column, which is what I need.  Is there a way to find this information?

Thanks again!

Hi kt19,

It is not possible to get a total stock value amount per item on the Product/Service list report. The only way to get the figures from here would be to export the report to Excel and enter an additional column which multiplies the 'Price' column by the 'Qty on hand' column for each item, and total this.

The 'Stock Valuation Summary' report within Reports > Sales and customers is the correct report which would give you this information as suggested by the above user.

Do you know the type of user access you currently have to your QuickBooks account? As this may be the reason you are unable to locate this specific report.

Thanks :)

Hello there, kt19.

You can run the Stock Valuation Summary. This report displays the transactions for each stock item, and how they affect the quantity on hand, value, and cost. For the Stock Valuation Detail report, this shows the quantity on hand, value, and the average cost for each stock item.

Here's how you can run the report:

  1. Go to Reports.
  2. Scroll down to Sales and customers section.
  3. Select the Stock Valuation Summary or Stock Valuation Detail.
  4. Choose the Report period and click the Run report button.

Please see the sample screenshot below:

You can also check the following articles below on how to customise the report as well as run other reports for stocks:

Let me know in the comments if you need anything else. Thanks.

Hi Renjolyn C,

Thank so much for your reply.   Stock Valuation Summary is not listed as a report.  I have QB Plus—maybe it's only avaiable with Advanced or can I find this report another way?

Thank you!

Nice to hear from you again, kt19.

The Stock Valuation Summary report is also available in QuickBooks Plus. It's possible that we haven't turned on the Track stock quantity on hand feature in the settings.

Let's go to the Account and Settings and enable this feature. This way, you'll be able to pull up the Stock Valuation Summary in your book.

Here's how to turn on this feature:

  1. Go to the Gear icon.
  2. Click Account and Settings under Your Company.
  3. Select Sales on the left side.
  4. Click the Pencil icon for the Product and Services section.
  5. Mark check inside the Track stock quantity on hand box.
  6. Tap Save. Then, Done.

Once done, you can follow the steps provided by my colleague RenjolynC.
