Hi we have upgrade to pro and spent a long time inputing all of our sales items with costs and sales prices.... only to have reporting return a blank column under margin.  We dont want to use the stock control feature so all items are non stock....  surely it should be possible to report on sales margin by product without keeping an inventory?  Hope someone can help, cheers Fi

Hello CwrwFi,

Welcome to the Community page,

So if you select the option of either non -stock product or service this will not show in the margin column and there is not way to get it to show in their either, only if you select a stock product it would then show in that margin column for you.

Oh that is a shame, we added all of the products (several hundred) to be able to get the report and thought it would work as we could see the template.

We really do need the information.   If we change all of our products to stock items is there a way of turning off the inventory functionality so we do not enter a stock quantity.

Or is there another report or work around that will allow us to see margins based on sales of non stock items?

Thanks in advance,

HI CwrwFi, Im afraid once the stock is turn on, it cant be turned off. There is no other workaround that will let you see the gross margin, without using the stock item them. So what your wanting to do is not possible within Quickbooks as it is a product limitation and I would suggest that you leave this as feedback in the main cog wheel, this gets sent straight to the developers.
