Hi alison b, thanks for posting on the Community

So that we can guide you on the best report to use for this, please confirm the version of QuickBooks Online that you're using: Simple Start, Essentials, Plus, or Advanced.

Thank you for your response, @alison b.

I'm here to help you find a report showing only the total income and total net income by month in QuickBooks Online Plus.

You can do so by running a Profit and Loss report and customizing it. Let me guide you through the steps.

Here's how:

  1. Go to Reports, and choose Profit and Loss.
  2. Choose your report period, then under the Display columns and click on the dropdown arrow to choose Months.
  3. Select your Accounting method, either Cash or Accrual.
  4. From there, hit Customize.
  5. Click the Filter dropdown, and under the Distribution Account, choose All Income Accounts.
  6. Once done, click Run report.

Once you've generated the report, you can view both total and net income for each month. Please note that it will still show the Total Expenses line since it's the Profit and Loss.

Moreover, I am adding this article as your reference in memorizing a report in QBO: Memorise reports in QuickBooks Online.

Please return to this post if you have additional concerns or follow-up questions about customizing reports in QuickBooks Online. I'm available to offer additional assistance. Have a good one!
