Question

Acrobat opens every time I download an invoice

As of this week, when I finish with an invoice and click "Print/Download" -- Adobe Acrobat opens along with the file.  I just wanted to download the file -- why does an app need to open?

Is it possible to separate the print and download buttons so that Acrobat doesn't have to automatically open?

We'll have to configure the Download preferences in your browser to fix the issue, Steve19. I'll walk you through the process to help you complete the task smoothly.

The app will open with files when your browser's settings are configured to open the downloaded files automatically. We'll have to change the Download settings to fix this issue.

For Chrome:

  1. In your browser, head to the three vertical lines in the upper right and select Settings.
  2. Click the Downloads menu on the left panel to see more options.
  3. Tap the Clear auto-opening settings menu.

For Edge:

  1. In your browser, navigate to the three horizontal lines in the upper right and choose Settings.
  2. Go to the Downloads menu on the left panel to view the list of preferences.
  3. In the Ask me what to do with each download (Always ask me if I want to save a file or open it without saving) section, move the slider to the right to turn it on.

With regard to the Print and download function, please know that it can't be separated at the moment as it's integrated within QuickBooks Online (QBO). In addition, these resources contain solutions to help you resolve printing and PDF issues:
