Adding Change Orders and Allocate Costs

Hi,

How can I create and save a change order to an estimate that will be used to create a progress invoice?

Can I also create and send a lien waiver with an invoice?

How can I allocate labor and material expenses directly to a change order as part of a larger project?

Thanks You

Hello there, JD40958.

Change orders are exclusively accessible in QuickBooks Desktop. Nevertheless, you can still make use of progressive invoicing. If there are alterations to the orders, you can only adjust the original estimate.

Furthermore, the option to use a lien waiver is currently unavailable in QuickBooks Online (QBO). However, you can consider exploring third-party apps that offer this feature as an alternative solution.

Let me assist you with how to do it:

  1. Click Apps from the left panel.
  2. Go to the Find Apps tab.
  3. From the search bar, type in the keyword to look for an app.
  4. Once done, you can choose an app from the list of results.

You can visit this article to search for available apps: https://quickbooks.intuit.com/app/apps/home/.

Lastly, you can use QuickBooks Online Projects feature to monitor your project's financial performance. This tool allows you to incorporate project income, expenses, and labor costs, and generate project-specific reports from a unified interface. Additionally, you can include previous transactions in new or existing projects if necessary. Visit this article for your guide: Create and manage projects in QuickBooks Online.

Additionally, our Product Development team receives your thoughtful comments (QBO) through the feature request tracking QuickBooks Online Feature Requests website.

There you go, JD40958. I'm excited to provide more information on any QuickBooks-related topic. Please add it in the comment section. May you have a great day.
