I appreciate you for reaching out with your concern about the duplicate receipt in QuickBooks Self-employed (QBSE). Let's do some troubleshooting steps to get this fixed.

Normally, when you upload receipts to QBSE, the system is programmed to recognize and prevent the creation of duplicate entries. This means that if you attempt to upload a receipt that has already been processed, the software will identify it and will not create a duplicate entry in your expense records.

If you're working on a web browser, let's open your QuickBooks Self-Employed account in a private window to rule out browser-related issues. Outdated or corrupted cached files and cookies can occasionally lead to unexpected system issues, which may have caused the status to display inaccurately.

Here are the following keyboard shortcuts you can use:

  • Google Chrome and Microsoft Edge: Ctrl+ Shift + N
  • Mozilla Firefox: Ctrl + Shift + P
  • Safari: Command + Option + P

If this works, return to your regular browser and consider clearing your cache to start afresh. You can also switch to other installed supported browsers, which is a good alternative.

On the other hand, let's perform app troubleshooting steps if you're working on a phone.

Here's how for iOS:

  1. Go to the Help menu.
  2. Select Reset App Data.
  3. Click on OK.

Here's how for Android:

  1. Proceed to the Home menu or tap the three dots in the upper right corner.
  2. Tap on Settings.
  3. Select Refresh Data.
  4. Click on Yes.

Moreover, I'm adding this article as your reference in categorizing your transactions in QBSE: Categorize transactions in QuickBooks Self-Employed.

As you manage your receipts and transactions, rest assured that I'm always here to lend a helping hand. Should you need assistance with any other areas, feel welcome to drop me a comment below.
