Advance Reporting Access Denied

Hello All,

I have 22 QB Enterprise Edition (desktop).  I gave a user access to the advance report.  But the user gets access denied. (me as admin or another user with full access this feature works)

Does a user need certain access to use advance reporting, or as long as advance reporting is added they should be good to use it?  I have talked to QB, and chatted with QB and no one can help me figure this out.

Steps tried.

1. rebuild data - still issue

2. duplicated the user to see if new user  - same issue

3. create a new user with just advance report - same issue

Any help would be apprecaited.

I know that having to go through multiple troubleshooting steps and not having any of them work can be a real pain, especially when you have more important things to be doing. I appreciate the time and effort you've spent with one of our technical support agents to get this sorted out, Dknow.

In this case, we'll need to create a new custom role for that user to access QuickBooks Advanced Reporting. Where you can create brand-new roles from scratch. This lets you determine which specific areas of your accounts can be accessed. Here's how:

  1. Go to the Company menu, then select Users.
  2. Tap Set Up Users and Roles.
  3. Enter the admin password, then press OK.
  4. Choose the Role List tab, then tap New.
  5. Give the role a name and description. Name something that indicates its permission level.
  6. In the Area and Activities section, select an area of your accounts. Review each area and select NoneFull, or Partial to set the role's permissions.
  7. Once you set permissions for each area, press OK to save.

Here's an article you can refer to for more insights about QuickBooks Desktop Users and Restrictions. If the same thing happens, just follow the steps below to troubleshoot the issue:

  1. Update QuickBooks Desktop to the latest release.
  2. Create or restore a QuickBooks portable company file
  3. Resolve data damage on your company file.

If you still encounter the same error message, you'll want to contact our QuickBooks Desktop support again. They'll check on your file and installation and investigate further what's causing this issue. Here's how to reach them:

  1. On QuickBooks Desktop, press the F1 key to open the Help menu.
  2. Click the Contact Us button.
  3. Enter something like "QB Error 15101 QNTY" or any other error messages you encountered.
  4. Proceed with Let's talk.
  5. Select either Start a chat or Get a call.

I created a new role.  added advance report and some other stuff.  Still having an issue.

As for reaching out with contact us.  That is what i have been doing. So i reached out here.  Still same issue.

I am sick calling and chatting with no help.

I had a agent call me (used this twice) used chat (used this twice) no answer or fix for this issue.

Keeps saying you do not have permission, ask your admin for access.  It seems like they need permission for something.  I know full access and admin can use this advance report.  But that is not acceptable for users that do not need full access.

Also forgot to say.  This feature was working before the last update.  So to me it seems like the permission issue is from the last update.  When will the next update come out to fix this?

Same issue here. It was caused by our update to Enterprise 23.0. User/Role permissions have no effect on it. It's got to be something with the linked Intuit accounts. ( This new "One Intuit account for everything" bs)

I understand this situation caused you frustration, and I want to reassure you that we are committed to resolving it, cjbv.

To confirm, have you tried verifying and rebuilding your data? If not, let's run the Verify Rebuild Utility tool to help fix data damage.

Here's how:

  1. Go to the File menu, hover over Utilities, and select Rebuild Data.
  2. On the QuickBooks Information window, select OK
  3. Follow the onscreen steps to save a backup.
  4. Let the tool repair your file. It may take some time. QuickBooks may seem stuck, but as long as you can move your mouse, the tool is working.
  5. When the tool finishes, select OK.
  6. Go to the File menu. Then, hover over Utilities and select Verify Data.
  7. Let the tool check your file for data issues.

If the problem continues, proceed to Step 2 of this article to help resolve data issues: Fix data damage on your QuickBooks Desktop company file.
