Another reports question:

I want to print a Bank Deposit report for varying periods that ONLY display the deposits made with a Payment Method of credit card and/or ACH. I already have a report that shows all deposits except for Payroll Deposits. I noticed that the Display options has a field (column) selector called "Pay Math", but the Filter Selector seems to be called "Payment Method". I assumed these were the same, why different who knows? 

 

** I know it is not "Pay Math" but QB won't let me use the word that QB uses in the options for filtering ... sort of a double standard!!!!!

 

When I attempt to Filter by Payment Method and I select "Multiple types" and then Credit Cards and ACH (both of which appear on the report I already have!), I then get a report with no data at all!!!  I have no idea why this Filtering isn't working. 

 

Is Pay Math and Payment Method the same? Do they both reference the method of payment made (check, credit memo, credit card, ACH, etc.)?

 

Why when selected does EVERY deposit made vanish as if there is no data whatsoever, even then the types selected already appeared on the report where other payment types also appeared?

Accurate reports that reflect the transactions for specified payment methods are essential to your operations and for making informed decisions, @Deadwood Al. I've got details on how the program utilizes the payment method fields.

 

Please know that the PAYMENT METHOD field is designated for sales transactions like receipts and customer payments, recording the method used to process these transactions. While on the other hand, the PMT METH field is utilized for categorizing bank deposit transactions, indicating through which funds are deposited into your bank account.

 

These two fields are distinct within QuickBooks and serve different purposes in recording transactions. Thus, the program doesn't match the filter with bank deposit entries, showing an empty Deposit Detail report. Thank you for responding and the links to what I hope is helpful in reporting. However, you did not provide any solution to the problem I'm having.

 

NOTE:  The message originally would not send because I used the same word that you used when responding to me.  M_TH.  So I am changing the spelling throughout my response to let your stupid message Censor rest easy.  I assume you know what word "M_TH" is in place of.

 

You described the difference between Payment Method and PMT M_TH (as you called it).l Unfortunately, I don't see PMT M_TH as a selection option anywhere in the column selections OR in the filtering options. What I do see in the column selection is PAY M_TH, which I assume is why the column PAY M_TH appears on the report (DUH!) with all the detail in the source of the deposits ... check, credit card, ACH, etc. The problem is that PAY M_TH is not an option choice in Filtering!!!!!!  The only option choice in Filtering that sounds like it should work is Payment Method, but of course, it does NOT work, presumably because your description of what it is meant to identify is correct and not what I am looking for.

 

Unfortunately, this appears to be another situation where QB does not provide the ability to produce a report to show less than all of the PAY M_TH types, so instead, the users must export the report to Excel and spend time creating the report they are looking for. Why is PAY M_TH not an option in filtering?  Probably because the people designing these reports have a very limited knowledge of what real-world users need or want to see, or at least have the ability to generate within the software we pay $$$$ to use to help us make better decisions.

 

If you, or any other of the crack design people at Intuit / QBDT know HOW to create a report that allows filtering on PAY M_TH, please let me know. And don't bother telling me how to submit this suggestion (or bug report!) to the Wizard of QB ... I do know how and will do so.

 

So again ... thanks for what you sent meaning to help, but also you failed to tell me how to get the report I wanted OR to tell me clearly that it is beyond the capability of QuickBooks to produce that type report.
