Are tags on invoices visible to clients in Quickbooks Online?

I would like to use tags to better report on income. For example, if a client is in a certain industry like retail, I would apply a retail tag to that invoice for easier reporting later on sales by industry. However, would like to know whether or not the client sees those tags before choosing which tags to apply. Thanks in advance!

I'd be glad to answer your questions about using the Tags feature, brent24

 

Your client will not see the tags that you assigned to the transactions. It's primarily used to let you track transactions however you'd like using customizable label for easy reporting. Your customer will only see the data and information in the actual invoice that you sent to them.

    I would like to use the Tags feature to reference client campaigns.  I would like for the Tags/Campaign to show on the invoice. Is this possible?

    The option to show the tags/campaign in the invoices is unavailable in QuickBooks Online (QBO). Your customer will only see the details in the actual invoice that you sent to them since tags is primarily used to track transactions. To learn more about this one, see the Tag Transactions In QuickBooks Online article. 

     

    However, you'd like to use the customizable labels for easy reporting. Then, run reports for tag groups to see how tagged transactions are performing. Here's how: 

    1. Go to the Banking menu and select Tags.
    2. Find a group on the list.
    3. Under the Action column, press Run report.

     

    You'll see how everything in the group affects your bottom line since groups have both money in and money out transactions. For more details about the Tag future, check out the What Are Tags And Why Should I Use Them? article.
