Question

Billed at an hourly rate in QB Self-Employed. The Hourly Rate has now increased and I can't find the place to update the new billing rate. Where can I change this information and update the project cost so the TIME and Invoices will be correct? Thank

Let's update the hourly rate of the invoice, @jacobsenjenn.

You can go to the Invoices menu to update the new billing rate. On the right side of the invoice transaction, you'll see the Edit link that will enable you to update the Hourly rate.

Here's how:

  1. Select Invoices.
  2. Find the invoice in question and then click Edit.
  3. In the Hourly rate field, enter the new billing rate.
  4. Hit Save.

Well done! I've also attached some articles which you can use if you wish to let your customers pay their invoices electronically and some FAQs about the product:

Keep in mind that you're always welcome to place a comment if you have additional questions about modifying your invoices. I'll check your reply in my notifications. Have a great weekend!

Thank you for your help. I guess I wasn't clear on what I was really asking. I am using the TIME beta and it has a set rate in it. I am having to go into each time entry to update the new cost which is time-consuming or when I go to the invoice and it brings over the time tracking I have to update each individual line item. Again very time-consuming. I want to know how to update the hourly rate in the time tracking in, QB Self-Employed, as there is no project of client section to be found. Thank you!

Hi @jacobsenjenn,

I appreciate you for providing clarification about your QuickBooks concern. Allow me to chime in and share additional details about the hourly rate in QuickBooks Self-Employed.

I'm glad to know you're part of the users running the beta testing of the new feature. I agree with you that the process of updating the new cost is time-consuming.

Right now, there is no other workaround aside from what you've mentioned. You'll need to make the changes manually from the time entry or the invoice.

While we continue to improve the new feature, I suggest sending your feedback to our product engineers. Your suggestions will help them with changes and updates for the Self-Employed version.
