Welcome to the Community, @nervousticks1. I'll share more info about the "Try again call succeeded and payload empty" error when creating an invoice.

I'd like to know what device you're using when you experienced the error.

If you used an iOS device, let's ensure that the QBO application is updated. If it is, offload your iPhone system to refresh the data. Here's how:

  1. Go to Settings, then tap General.
  2. Tap iPhone Storage, then tap the QuickBooks Online app.
  3. Tap Offload App.

If the issue persists, I suggest creating an invoice on an Android device by downloading the latest QBO application or log in via a web browser.

Moreover, you can Refresh Data if the error happens in Android device to free up the storage. Check out the steps below:

  1. Click the Menu tab and select the More Options.
  2. Select Settings, then Refresh Data.
  3. Click YES to confirm.

If this occurs utilizing a mobile or computer browser, I suggest logging in via incognito mode or a private window to avoid storing cache file that causes odd behavior when using a web-based program.

You can utilize these shortcut keys if you sign in via computer browser:

  • Google Chrome: press Ctrl + Shift + N
  • Mozilla Firefox: press Ctrl + Shift + P
  • Microsoft Edge: press Ctrl + Shift + N
  • Safari: press Command + Shift + N

Then, create an invoice there. If this works, clear the cache of your regular browser to eliminate piled-up data. If the issue persists, you can use another supported browser or device
