Hi there, accounting33.

Yes, you can set up your budget by class. Let me show you how:

  1. Create a new budget in the Budgeting section.
  2. Select Class in the drop-down arrow for Subdivide by.
  3. Select which class the budget is for in the drop-down arrow for Add subdivided budget for
  4. Click Next.
  5. Enter the budget amounts in the class that's selected in the drop-down arrow for View budget for.

I also have screenshots below for more details. Leave a reply below if you have other questions.

Answer appears to be a budget by Class within Account; question is for a budget by Class instead of Account.

I'm frustrated as we're trying to accomplish the same thing, and no one seems to really understand the issue. I get that you can toggle between classes and fill out a detailed budget for each class, but I would like to have the rows be classes, with no accounts appearing whatsoever. We don't need the complexity and detail of having to budget by account for each class; we just need a high-level view for how we're doing in each class.

I set my budget up by account and it all went to one class. If I run a budget to actual the budget amounts dont show under the right class. I can do a 2nd budget by class but dont understand this. Do I have ot enter each separate class budget. How would I run a consolidated report?
