I created a price rule in error and want to delete it. I can't figure out how to remove a rule from a customer nor how to manage the price rules within the system.

Hi @michelle-sptechm, I'll help delete the price rule.

In QuickBooks Online, you can mark price rules created as inactive to delete them from your lists. I'll show you how to accomplish this.

  1. Go to the Gear icon.
  2. Under LISTS, select All lists,
  3. Select Price Rules.
  4. On the list of rules created, find the rule in question.
  5. Below the ACTION column, select the Edit drop-down menu.
  6. Click Make inactive.

Use this article to read and learn more about price rules: How to Set and Manage Pricing Rules for Specific Products and Services?

I've included this reference that'll help you understand your customer's profile and its transaction history which breaks down how much money you have: How to Add, Edit, Delete, or Merge Customers in QuickBooks Online?

So once made there isn't anyway to delete the rule, but only make it inactive?   I had an overzealous employee who made a lot of price rules.  Its very confusing and I need to delete some of them so they aren't showing up on the list.

Glad to see you in this thread, @acraig3. I'll share additional information about how the price rules feature works in QuickBooks Online (QBO).

Yes, you're correct that once a price rule is created the option to delete them isn't possible. You'll have to manually inactivate the unnecessary rules so they won't show up on your lists anymore.

You can follow these steps if you want to inactivate some of your price rules:

  1. Go to the Gear icon ⚙️ and then click All Lists.
  2. Select Price Rules.
  3. Click the dropdown under the Action column.
  4. Tap Make inactive.

While the feature to delete a price rule permanently isn't available, I suggest submitting a feature request to our Product Development Team to help improve your experience. They can review your suggestions and might make some adjustments in the next update. Please click the following article for the detailed steps: How do I submit feedback?

Keep me posted if you still have questions or concerns about managing your price rules in QBO. I'll be here to lend a helping hand. Have a great day ahead!
