Question

Can books be closed each month in QBO Advanced? If so, how and does it completely prevent others making changes to the previous closed month?

Hello there, amina. I understand the importance of having control over your financial data.

Yes. In QuickBooks Online Advanced, you can close your books at the end of each month. This process helps ensure that the financial data for that month is finalized and prevents any further changes to the closed period.

Here's how:

  1. Go to the Gear icon.
  2. Select Account and Settings.
  3. Click the Advanced tab.
  4. Tap the Accounting edit pencil icon.
  5. Toggle the Close the Books button to turn it on.
  6. Enter the Closing date.
  7. Choose the Allow changes after viewing a warning and entering a password option from the drop-down arrow if you want to require a password before editing your closed books.
  8. Hit Save, and then Done.

Additionally, you'll want to seek advice from your accountant about closing your books to ensure your data is accurate. If you don't have one, consider subscribing to QuickBooks Live Bookkeeping.
