I'm here to help update your template in QuickBooks Online, Sharon.

Before we proceed, may I know what invoice window you're seeing right now? Are you using the new invoice layout or the old one? Any details you can add would help us provide the appropriate steps to address your concern.

If you're still using the old invoice layout, follow these steps to change your default invoice template:

  1. Go to Settings and select Custom form styles.
  2. Look for the invoice template you want to change, then click the Action drop-down list.
  3. Choose Make default.
  4. If you need to update its settings, simply click Edit in the Custom form styles window. Then, select Done when you're finished.

If you're in the new invoice experience window, you can manually update your design directly from it.

  1. Click Manage on your Invoice window.
  2. Select Customization or Design.
  3. Make any necessary changes and continue filling up your invoice.
  4. Once done, click Save or Review and send.

Please note that going back to the old invoice interface is already unavailable in QuickBooks Online.

For additional reference, you can check out this article: Customize invoices, estimates, and sales receipts in QBO.

Moreover, QuickBooks releases a new estimate and invoice layout to help you land jobs, keep work moving, and get paid faster. To know more about it, please see this resource: See what’s new with estimates and invoices in QuickBooks Online.

Please let me know if you have additional questions about updating invoice templates in the program. I'll be here to help. Have a good one.
