Can I track inventory at the time of purchase? As I write a check to Joe for 12 widgets for example, my inventory would increase by 12. Thank you.

Yes, you can track an inventory at the time of purchase by creating a check or expense and record it as paid.
 

1. Select + New.
2. Select Expense, Check, or Bill. .
3. From the Payee  dropdown, select the vendor. 
4. Select Save and close.
