Question

Can quickbooks online please add back the ability to duplicate and estimate?

This used to be a feature and was removed late last year.  We really need it back.  I can duplicate invoices but not estimates.  This documentation says we should be able to duplicate estimates:

Please make your tool's functionality match your documentation and add back the ability to duplicate estimates.

I know how significant duplicating estimates are, so you'll save time in entering similar transactions in another estimate, koanbuilders. I've got the steps so you can duplicate the estimates in a new way.

In QuickBooks Online, the duplicate feature is unavailable in the options in the All Sales tab. However, there's a new way to make a copy of the estimate in the updated program. You can refer to the steps below for guidance:

  1. Go to Sales, then select All Sales.
  2. Find the estimate you want to make a copy, then click Edit.
  3. Click the Actions dropdown in the left navigation menu, then select Make a copy.
  4. You can review the estimates, then select Save and Close.

Furthermore, you can convert the estimate directly to an invoice to save time from entering the information and keep your books accurate.

You're always welcome to comment below if you have other questions about duplicating estimates and invoices or other QuickBooks-related concerns. We've got your back and are ready to lend you a hand. Have a great day!

Ah, I dug around and found it.  To clarify for others: between steps 2 and 3 you may need to click a gear icon that says "Manage".  Then within that sidebar there is the "Actions" dropdown.  Lots more steps than this used to be but glad to see we can still copy estimates!

Thanks! That's much better directions than the original post!

I agree, please bring this function back! I used to be able to easily choose the "copy" option from within an estimate or invoice, I don't want to have to go into the estimate list from the sales menu and sort through all the estimates there. I want to be able to access it from within the specific estimate like I used to. I don't know why QB has to mess with things like that. Frustrating.

I know how frustrating it can be when we're unable to copy or duplicate our estimate, @CecilyN. Let's ensure you can make a copy within the specific estimate.

To create a duplicate or copy of your estimate, you can select the small gear icon or the manage option. Then, under the Actions column for that estimate, select Make a copy. To do so, follow the steps below:

  1. Go to your Estimate transaction that you want to make a copy of.
  2. Select the small gear icon or the manage option.
  3. In the Actions dropdown, select Make a copy.

Refer below for the screenshot:

I’ll be sharing these resources that will guide you in sending estimates and converting them to an invoice:

If you have any follow-up questions regarding the copy option from within the estimate or anything else related to QuickBooks, feel free to ask me. I'm always here to help you, @CecilyN.

The problem with your suggestion is this.  After you close your books at the end of the month, you can no longer copy an estimate without giving my closing password to my sales rep which I don't want to do.

Also, and estimate should not be considered a "closed" item.  It's an estimate, it's not in my books yet.  Please fix this as soon as possible.
