It is not the experience we want you to have using our services. Allow me to help you set up Autopay for recurring invoices in QuickBooks Online (QBO).

Autopay is available on pay-enabled recurring invoices.  If you don't have invoices set up to recur. If you already have a recurring invoice set up, there's no need to create a new one. Follow these steps:

  1. Create an invoice and select Make recurring or Create a recurring template
  2. Go to Interval and choose how often the invoice should recur.
  3. Enter the start and end date of the recurring invoice.
  4. Fill in the rest of the invoice and click Save template.

When editing recurring templates with Autopay setup, any changes to the total amount, frequency, terms, payment options, email address, or customer name will cancel Autopay. Your customer will receive a cancellation email for future Autopay transactions.

Customers can now set up Autopay when they receive the invoice email. Autopay is available for the full amount only, and editing the amount will remove the Autopay option. Customers need an Intuit account to use Autopay. If they don't have one, they can create a new login. Here's how to set up Autopay:

  1. Your customer has to open your invoice and select Set up Autopay to enroll.
  2. Next, your customer has to sign in using Intuit user ID (also used for TurboTax and Mint).
  3. Your customer ensures the autopay checkbox shows as selected and displays the correct frequency and start date.
  4. Once everything looks good, your customer selects the Autopay button to pay the current invoice. They will receive a confirmation email that the setup for Autopay is done.
