Can we add a COLUMN to the Purchase Order Format in Quickbooks on Line or/and in Quickbooks Desktop?

In QuickBooks Online (QBO), you can only add Custom fields to your purchase order, not to add the traditional column. This helps you capture extra information that fits your needs.  On the other hand, QuickBooks Desktop (QBDT) allows you to add those columns directly to your purchase orders. I can walk you through how to manage this on both platforms.

For QBO, the first step is to enable the purchase order setting. This feature is available only in the Plus and Advanced versions. Once we get that turned on, we can add the custom field.

Here's how:

1. Navigate the Settings icon and select Custom fields.
2. Select Add field. Note: If this is your first time creating a custom field, select Add custom field.
3. Enter a name in the Name field example (Service Date).
4. Select the Purchase Order checkbox.
5. Then, Save.

For QBDT, here's how to turn the Purchase order feature:

1. Go to Edit and choose Preferences.
2. Select the Items and Inventory tab.
3. Click Company Preferences.
4. Ensure the inventory and purchase orders are active is checkmarked.
