Question

Can you Customize your Credit Memo Template like you can create new invoice templates? I was able to in the Desktop version but can't seem to in the Online version

I am trying to not show all of the columns that are on the screen on the actual emailed or Printed Credit Memo. When I have to Credit back Premium to my customer, I don't want them to see how much is returned from the Insurance company and how much is my commission that I must include.  I just want them to see the Total Credit.  Like I said, we can do it with our Invoices but Can't figure out how to do it on the credit memo.

Hello there, Amber.

In QuickBooks Online, while you can't directly customize the credit memo template like you can with invoices, I can guide you to a workaround that can help you achieve your desired outcome.

Here are some of the workarounds that can help:

  • Separate items in the credit memo transaction to display the credit amount, your commissions, and descriptions of each.
  • Create a customized PDF template and upload it to your credit memo through the Add Attachment section.
  • Add a message to your customer about the necessary information by utilizing the Message displayed on Credit Memo and the Message displayed on statement section.

While this option to customize credit memos isn't currently available, I recommend submitting a feature request feedback directly to our product engineers.

Here's how:

  1. Select the Gear icon and choose Feedback.
  2. Fill in your suggestions in the Feedback field.
  3. Select Next to send it.

Moreover, you can also consider adding a discount to an invoice or sales receipt in QuickBooks Online for your loyal customers.
