Question

Can you use Quickbooks online the same way you did Quickbooks Desktop? I want to just be able to type directly into the register.

Yes, Radiehl, you can enter the transaction directly in QuickBooks Online (QBO).

In QBO, the interface is different from QuickBooks Desktop, but it's still possible to manually enter transactions in the register. Let me walk you through how:

  1. Go to the Gear icon and select the Chart of Accounts.
  2. Find the account register you want to review.
  3. Select View register from the Actions column.
  4.  Go to the top of the list and select the Add check dropdown menu.
  5. Select the type of transaction you want to add.
  6. Fill out the fields to complete the transaction.
  7. Once done, select Save.

In addition, I'm adding this article to help you balance your books to match your bank and credit card statements: Reconcile an account.

If you have any further questions regarding the manual entry of transactions, please do not hesitate to let us know. I'm here to assist. Have a good day.
