Cannot email invoices in Multi-User mode? Can email all else in MUM. Invoices can only be emailed in SUM (single user mode)? Cloud based. QB Premier 2020 with Avalara.

There is no error message.  The little blue wheel starts spinning like it is going to send the message, but then it just disappears.  We wait a while, hit the send button again, and the same thing happens, no matter how many times we try.  We never get the "mail has been successfully sent" message.

Let us check how we can configure your Quickbooks Desktop for multi-user access so that other workstations can have access to your company files.

 

To ensure the smooth sharing of your company files over your network, we suggest storing them on the local hard drive of your server computer. Additionally, it is important to enable folder and Windows access permissions so that workstations can access and collaborate on your clients' files. Here is how to do it:

 

  1. Right-click the folder that carries the company file.
  2. Go to Properties, then select Security and Edit.
  3. Choose QBDataServiceUserXX and then click Full Control.
  4. Press Allow.
  5. Click Apply, and then press the OK button.

 

Once done, follow the instructions below:

 

  1. Press Windows + E keys to open File Explorer.
  2. Find and right-click the folder containing your company files.
  3. Move to PropertiesSharingShared Add.
  4. Choose the corresponding QBDataServiceUserXX for your version.
  5. Set the permission level of both users to Full Control and Share.

  1. Go to Help.
  2. Choose QuickBooks Desktop Help.
  3. Click on the Contact Us link.
  4. Choose Search for something else.
  5. Type in a keyword about your concern.
  6. Hit Submit.
  7. Click on the Start a Message button.

The QuickBooks File Doctor is a tool that determines and fixes any errors on your company file. We can run this so we can resolve the email issue. In addition, let's make sure that we successfully set up folder and Windows access permissions. This can also be the reason why you're unable to send the invoices in multi-user mode.

 

Also, let's check your QuickBooks Database Server Manager (QDSM) if it's updated. Any error with QDSM can also prevent the other users to send invoices in Multi-User mode.

 

You'll want to temporarily send the invoices via single-user mode if the same thing happens. Then, please reach out to our Technical Support so they can check the reason for this. Simply go to Help QuickBooks Desktop Help > click Contact us.

I was just wondering if you were ever able to find a fix for this issue.  We have been experiencing the same thing and have tried several file repairs, and even switching our file from one cloud based server to another in case the issue was with the first cloud provider.  Nothing seems to work.  Everything functions just fine in single user mode, but with multi-user mode, nobody can send invoices, but estimates and other files can send without a problem.
