Hello everyone, new to QuickBooks. 

Is there any way I can add new account types and detail types?  thanks

I'm happy to assist you with adding an Account type and Detail type in QuickBooks Online (QBO).

 

Currently, adding a new Account type and Detail type to your Chart of Accounts is not possible. However, you can use the default ones provided when you add a new account to the chart of accounts. The detail type options available will depend on the account type you select.

 

If you need to modify the Account type and Detail type, you can do so by editing the existing account. Just keep in mind that altering this information can impact your accounting and reporting. Here's how to edit your account:

 

  1. Go to the Gear icon at the top.
  2. Select Chart of accounts.
  3. Locate the account you want to modify.
  4. Click the drop-down arrow next to the View register link.
  5. Select Edit.
  6. In the Edit account window, choose the Detail Type from the drop-down list.
  7. Click Save when done.
