Collect a credit card from customer without charging?

Is there a quickbooks method to simply collect cc info? We want the customer to enter their credit card without being chraged as part of the booking process. My business requires a credit card on file before a customer can schedule a service. We dont charge the customer until after the service as its based on real time. Is there a way for a customer to submit a credit card guarantee thru some secure quickbooks form, so that they dont have to call with a card or email a card number without security?

Hey there, @darkstar057. Currently, QuickBooks Online (QBO) doesn't have a form for collecting customer credit card information. As a workaround, you can reach them and ask for the card information and manually enter it in the customer profile.

 

Here's how:

 

  1. Go to Sales and select the Customer tab.
  2. Pick the customer to whom you want to add credit card information. Then, Click the Edit icon.
  3. Scroll down and go to the Payments section. 
  4. Select Credit Card from the Primary payment method section, and click the Enter credit card details.
  5. Once done, click on the Save icon.

However, if you have QuickBooks Payments, you can let your customers choose the credit card method and let them enter the details once they click View and Pay from the invoice email you send.
