I am trying to run a collections report but need to specify a certain product/service. Collections report can get me there but when I go to the filter, it will only allow me to filter by customer, Due Date, Terms, PO Number, Rent, Rent (project). We just switched to QBO and I am hoping I am going to get the hang of this sooner or later!

Thanks for sharing your experience while using QuickBooks Online (QBO), BeanCounter. Let me share what I know about the Collections Report in the online version and help you send feedback about its filter options.

The Collections Report in QBO displays all customer transactions, like overdue invoices with due dates, days past due, and totals for each customer. The option to display certain products and services in this report is unavailable.

You can view the specific product/service associated with the transaction by clicking on each manually. If you don't want to do that, you can use Detail reports in QuickBooks. Our Sales by Product/Service Detail will show items from your invoices. If you're using Plus and Advanced versions, you can also run the Purchases by Product/Service Detail report.

Open the Sales by Product/Service Detail. From there, you can add columns depending on the information you need. Click the small gear icon within the report and add a checkmark to the boxes you want to show. See the screenshot below for your guide.

Then, you can export the report to Excel and combine it with your Collection Report (exported) data. From there, you can personalize your data further manually.

Meanwhile, I encourage you to submit your feedback about the filter options you want in your report. They may add this feature in future product enhancements to make our program better and more efficient for you to use.

Here's how:

  1. Open your QuickBooks Online account.
  2. Hit the Gear icon at the top, then select Feedback.
  3. Type in your product suggestions.
  4. Click Next to submit feedback.

You can visit our Customer Feedback page to keep track of your requests and other feature updates.

Moreover, you can save a customized report in QuickBooks if you want the same information in the future.
