Question

Create Bill - drag/drop has been changed for the worse

Some recent change has "broken" drag/drop operations to add attachments to a new bill. It used to be possible to drag/drop a selection of multiple files as attachments into a new bill in a single operation.  That no longer works.  Even if you select multiple files, it only adds the first file in the group.  In order to get them all added, now you must do them one at a time.

Hello there, @BearGFR. I'm here to guide you in adding attachments to your bill in QuickBooks Online (QBO).

To fix this, we can perform some basic troubleshooting steps to determine if this is a browser-related issue. Let's start by accessing your QBO account through an incognito mode. This does not store cache which has the potential to become corrupted and cause unexpected behavior. Below are the shortcut keys you can use:

  • Google Chrome: press Ctrl + Shift + N
  • Mozilla Firefox: press Ctrl + Shift + P
  • Microsoft Edge: press Ctrl + Shift + N
  • Safari: press Command + Shift +N

When signed in, create a bill again and drag/drop the files in the Attachments field. From there, check if you can now use this function seamlessly. If this works, I recommend clearing the cache to eliminate piled-up data that might cause odd behaviors when running a web-based program. If not, I suggest using another support browser or device. Might be that the current one you're using has a temporary issue with the program.

Once everything is fine, you can use this article as a guide to paying your bill: Enter and manage bills and bill payments in QuickBooks Online.

Obviously, you either did not read or did not understand my question.  I don't need help knowing how to drag/drop attachments.  I know how to drag/drop attachments.  I've doing doing that for a few years now.  My complaint is that some recent change to the QB online web site server code has made it to where it is no longer possible to drag/drop  ----MULTIPLE FILES IN ONE OPERATION--- into a bill.

Here's what I mean and how to re-create the problem for yourself.

  • Begin creating a new bill in QB online
  • Open windows file explorer and select --MORE THAN ONE FILE-- as a group
  • Drag that group into the "Add attachments' box in the bill.
  • Notice how it only added one of the files and not all of them?  THAT'S THE PROBLEM!!

This used to work.  Now it doesn't.

Hi there, @BearGFR.

Thank you for reaching out to the Community.

I can definitely help you by adding more than one attachment to your bill transaction and share some insight into why you encountered this error.

Upon checking, I found out that adding attachments as a group is now working. However, it should be manually dragged from the downloads and should not be past 20MB.

And if it's still not working you can follow the steps given by my colleague @DivinaMercy_N  to determine if it's a browser-related issue.
