Question

Credit card account will not show in QBO

I signed up for a new credit card account several months ago. When I try to add it to my QBO, it shows that it was already automatically added when the account populated into my Chase account (since I had previously linked it), so it won't let me add it... and it is nowhere to be found in my account. It's not on the Transactions page, and it's not in my chart of accounts. I have checked multiple times. How do I get this account connected?

I also have another CC account that disconnected in early 2023 and I cannot reconnect - it's the Kohls Charge Card... does anyone else have this problem or know how to fix it?

Side note - I've tried using the automated assistant but get "I’m having some technical difficulties right now" every time I ask something now... for months.

Hi there, rachaelmw72. Let's investigate if this is a browser issue preventing the bank account from appearing in QuickBooks Online.

Let's open your account using an incognito or private browser. This will allow you to test if the issue is related to your browser's cache. When you use incognito browsing, your browser doesn't save your search history, cookies, or site data, which can sometimes interfere with accessing certain websites.

To open an incognito window, you can typically use the shortcut key:

  • Ctrl + Shift + N  for Google Chrome
  • Ctrl + Shift + P for Firefox
  • Control + Option +P for Safari

To check if it's already added to the bank account, open the incognito window and access your account's login page. If you can access it without issues, the problem may be related to your browser settings or extensions. In this case, I recommend clearing your browser's cache and cookies. This can help resolve any issues due to outdated or corrupted data stored in your browser. If that doesn't work, you could use a different browser altogether. Some popular options include Chrome, Firefox, and Safari. Remember that other browsers use various rendering engines and may handle websites or applications differently. Switching to a different browser may help you identify and resolve the issue.

However, if you're still experiencing problems viewing your financial institution account in QBO, it could be due to your inactive account. Inactive accounts can prevent you from accessing certain features in QBO, including the ability to view your financial institution account. To make it active, here's how:

  1. Go to the Gear icon and select Chart of accounts.
  2. Click the Settings, and mark check the Include inactive
  3. Find the account inactive.
  4. Under Action, select Make Active.
