Curse the online version. How do I look at the expense categories and modify them?

I just want to see a list of the expense categories!

I can help you modify the expense categories in your Chart of accounts, Disk555forward.

 

The category expense is in the Chart of accounts in QuickBooks Online (QBO). To modify them, you may follow the steps below:

 

  1. In the left panel, go to Transactions.
  2. Click the Chart of accounts.
  3. Look for the expense category.
  4. Click the dropdown list beside Run Report, then select Edit.
  5. Rename the expense category and click Save and close.

 

On the other hand, to pull up a list of expenses, you can run an Account list report.

 

Here's how:

 

  1. Go to the Reports.
  2. Enter the Account list in the search field.
  3. Click Filter, then under Filter by option, select Account type.
  4. Under Options, check equals, and in the Value dropdown, select all the expense accounts you want to include in the list.

 

To save the list in the custom reports, you'll have to edit the title to your preference and click Save.
