Customizing Reporting

Is there a way to customize the "profit and loss by class report" so that the classes are listed vertically down the first column instead of each class being a different column across the top? I see that some reports have a pivot option, but this report doesn't. If not, can a custom report be created that achieves the same end?

Hello there, @Dhowell.

In QuickBooks Online, there's currently no option available to modify reports so that classes are shown vertically in the first column (row) rather than horizontally across the top (column). Moreover, while it's not possible to pivot Profit and Loss directly, you can export the report to Excel and make the necessary modifications there to align the classes vertically.

Additionally, Source and Targets is a concept that QuickBooks uses when running reports. This will help you to utilize the filter more efficiently where you can create detailed reports and comprehensive results. To understand better, let's dig deeper into the Source and Targets:

  • Source represents a transaction's summarized information, containing all the source data crucial for an overview.
  • Targets, on the other hand, offer detailed insights into the transaction by including all target data, which helps in understanding specific aspects of the transaction.

If you have any recommendations, I can assist you in sending feedback to our Product Development Team. They will review your suggestions and it will be taken into consideration to introduce here in QuickBooks Online.

These are the steps to send feedback:
