Question

Deleted an AP bill after paying it. The bill exists in AP, even though it is reflected as paid in the checking account and credit card register. Can I delete the bill?

The pmt shows in both the checking account and credit card register. Bill still in AP since I re-entered it into the cc register as a credit to reconcile cc register. Can I delete the bill and not impact the checking or cc registers?

Thanks for reaching out in this forum, stacey3si. I'm here to help you out in handling bills in QuickBooks Online (QBO).

Before deleting the bill, please make sure that the payment for the original bill is correctly recorded in your credit card register. This way, we can ensure that there will be no discrepancies or duplicate payments reflected in the registers.

Once you've confirmed the entry is a duplicate transaction, we can safely delete the re-entered bill in QBO. To do so, here's how:

  1. Head to the Expenses and select Bills.
  2. Find the bill you want to delete.
  3. From the Action column, click Delete from the dropdown menu.
  4. When prompted, select Yes to confirm.

See this article for reference: Delete a bill in QuickBooks Online.
