Deposits not showing in Balance Sheet Report by Class

When I run a balance sheet report that is filtered by class, my bank deposits are not showing up in the report. If I turn off the class filter, they show up just fine and all of the balances are accurate. However, when filtered by class, the deposits don't show up.

How do I get a deposit that is attributed to a class to show up in a report that is filtered by class?

Thanks!

Thanks for getting back to us, @PTJ.

I appreciate you following the steps above to get the right information on your Balance Sheet by Class report. Allow me to join the conversation and provide clarification.

Each transaction (except journal entries) is separated into two parts, the header, and the detail. The Balance Sheet by Class Report pulls in the header portions of the transactions, in which asset, liability, and equity accounts are selected.

When using classes, transactions are attached to the detail portion making the report incorrect. Resolve this by entering all related transactions as General Journal Entries and specify a class on each line item.

Check out the following articles to know more about this:

You can also run the Profit and Loss report and customize it by class to get the information from the detail side of the transaction. Let me show you how:

  1. Go to Reports from the left menu.
  2. Enter Profit and Loss in the Search field.
  3. Select Report period.
  4. On the Display columns by drop-down, choose Classes.
  5. Click Run report.

Take a look at this article for reference: Customize the Profit and Loss report.

That should get you on the right track.

Thanks for reaching out to the QuickBooks Community, @PTJ.

I'm here to help resolve the issue when filtering Balance Sheet Report by Class in QuickBooks Online (QBO).

I've replicated this on my QuickBooks sample file, and it seems like my bank deposit shows when filtering the Balance Sheet report by Class. Let's perform troubleshooting steps, which is to switch to a different browser. This is a good way to check if it's caused by the browser. Let's log into QBO using a private browser.

Here are the keyboard shortcuts to open a private browser:

  • Google Chrome: press Ctrl+Shift+N
  • Mozilla Firefox: press Ctrl+Shift+P
  • Internet Explorer: press Ctrl+Shift+P
  • Safari: press Command+Shift+N

If it works fine, I suggest clearing your browser's cache to start fresh. The next time you log in to QuickBooks Online, your browser will download fresh copies of everything you see on each page. Any cache-related issues should be cleared up.

For additional reference, you can check this article on how to customize reports

Please let me know how it goes by clicking the Reply button below. I'll be around to help if you have additional questions about the QBO reports. Have a good one.

Thanks for the suggestion - sadly, this doesn't seem to help. I tried a different browser and a private window - it didn't work in either case. None of the "Quick Deposit" items are reflected in the class-filtered Balance Sheet, even though they have a class attributed to them.
