Does anyone know if you can increase the sizeof the field for invoice numbers? It is truncating ours and causing problems.

Appreciate the help and followed up with QB which said the same thing. The odd thing is that for years, until August of 2019, it took 12 characters and all of a sudden it started truncating to 11. The QB rep did not understand it either, but is running it up the flag pole. Pretty weird.

But thanks

Thanks for visiting the Community, @Mrbucks1. There's a specific maximum number of characters that can be entered on each field in your QuickBooks Desktop company data file.

Currently, the maximum character that can be entered into the Invoice Number Field is 11. Refer to this help article for further detail: Character limitations for fields in QuickBooks

I understand how convenient it is if we could increase the size of this field. I'm taking note of your feedback and will share it with our developers. Surely, they will take a look at this feature and review our suggested plan for consideration in future updates.

For now, I'm inviting you to visit our Firm of the Future to know the latest products in Intuit.

I'm also adding an article that can greatly help you in using and customizing form templates

Feel free to message again if you have additional concerns. We're always delighted to be of your service.

It's the middle of 2022 and it appears that people have been complaining about this for at least 4 years. Why is QuickBooks so unresponsive while being so expensive. You would think they could afford some customer support! But come to think of it, they also haven't fixed the problem with the Hierarchical View on the Customer list. The lack of response is chronic!
