This isn’t the kind of impression I want you to have when using the product. We’ll have to delete the incorrect account and create a new one.
In QuickBooks, there some accounts you’re unable to change like Accounts Receivable to Accounts Payable. This is to ensure your records have the correct information.
To remove the account:
- In your company file, tap the Lists menu to choose Chart of Accounts.
- From there, pick the account you wish to delete.
- Go to the Edit menu and select Delete Account.
- Click OK to confirm the action.
To add:
- Go to the Lists menu and choose Chart of Accounts.
- Click the Plus icon (+) and complete the account details.
- Hit OK once you’re done.
Here’s an article that provides more insights into the process. From there, you’ll also find the steps on how to set up account numbers and add sub-account: Add, edit, or delete accounts in QuickBooks Desktop for Mac.
