I'm here to assist you with entering Credit Card (CC) transactions into QBO, sgbancroft127.

If you're recording a customer or expense CC transaction, please know that there isn't a specific box to enter a CC account number in the data entry screen. This is to remain compliant with PCI DSS for security purposes. You can visit this article to learn more about this: Learn about QuickBooks PCI Compliance. While this is the case, I can provide you with a workaround.

As a workaround, you can consider utilizing the Reference no. or Memo boxes if you need to enter CC account numbers for authorization in card-not-present customer transactions. For this, I'd recommend entering only the Card Verification Values (CVV) or the last three or four digits of your customer's CC account number in the Receive Payment window. Then, once the purchase is authorized, it would be best not to retain the information.

For entering expense transactions, you can utilize the Reference no. and Memo boxes.

While there's an option to activate account numbers in QBO, please know that it's only for organizing the list of your accounts. You can check out this article for more details: Use account numbers in your chart of accounts in QuickBooks Online.

For future reference, I'm adding these articles as guides in categorizing credit card transactions in QBO:
