I started my company on January 1, 2024.

Please help.

Hello there, mapmiester. Let me help you successfully add an inventory item.

Before anything, let's check your settings to see if the closed books are enabled.

  1. Hover to the Gear icon, then select Account and settings.
  2. Select Advanced and click the Edit icon in the Accounting section.
  3. See if the  Close the books is enabled. If so, then check the date and update it.
  4. Hit Save, then Done.

If the closed books weren't enabled, let's open your QuickBooks account in a private window to rule out browser-related issues. Here are the keyboard shortcuts:

  • Google Chrome and Microsoft Edge: Ctrl+ Shift + N
  • Mozilla Firefox: Ctrl + Shift + P
  • Safari: Command + Option + P

If you can successfully add an inventory, return to your regular browser and clear your cache. Occasionally, the accumulated cache and cookies in the system can become outdated or corrupted, leading to unexpected behaviors. You can also switch to other installed supported browsers, which is a good alternative.

Moreover, you can generate a report that provides detailed information on the performance of your business, such as the number of products sold, the revenue generated, and the profit margins. This information can help you make informed decisions about your business strategy and identify areas for improvement.
