Error when creating customer statements

When we create customer statements, we select 'All customers' and 'Do not create statesments: with a zero balance'. When we click 'Print' an error comes up that says:

Quickbooks encountered errors while creating statement. This may be because of selecting too many customers. Try reducing the number of customers selected (Max of 4500) and create statements

We only have a dozen or so customers with a non-zero balance. Is there a way to fix this without selecting 'Multiple customers' and selecting customers manually? We are using Quickbooks Enterprise 23. We were previously using Enterprise 20 and this message did not come up.

I appreciate you joining the thread, @STRATOSMICRO.

I hear your sentiments, and I'd like to route you to our live support group that can best handle this type of concern.

If you've already tried all the suggested troubleshooting steps in the thread and still encounter the same issue, I suggest getting in touch with our Technical support team. That way, they can further investigate the issue. Also, they can create a ticket for investigation if needed.

Here's how:

  1. Go to Help, then select QuickBooks Desktop Help.
  2. Select Contact Us.
  3. Please enter a brief description of your issue, then select Let's Talk, and then choose a way to connect.

Please check out this article for QuickBooks support hours:  Contact QuickBooks Desktop Support.

In the meantime, you can manually select each customer and not the All customers to create statements. To learn more about creating statements, check out this article: Create and send customer statements in QuickBooks Desktop.

I've also added this article for future guidance in entering charges directly into the customer’s register: Create statement charges.

You can always stick around if you have further concerns with QuickBooks Desktop. Just post here again, and I'll help you out.

I've contacted support in every way possible. Enterprise has turned running statements from a 5-min tops procedure to 30-45 minutes to go through all my customers and select the ones I need printed. THIS IS NOT AN IMPROVEMENT!!  It shouldn't be that hard for your programmers to make the changes back to the way it was in Pro.

My "workaround" has been to go through my customer list (one time) and label customer type:

Name: A-H
Name I-O

Name ame P-Z

This will then cause you to run it. Obviously you will have to clear "customer type"

Obviously this is not a solution, nor is it effective. I have to limp along what is supposed to be enterprise grade software...

Silly that we have to make this company work to earn it's money. What a shame. /s

I've had the same issue since installing 2023 Enterprise without Intuit providing any fix for the issue except to choose manuall which takes forever.

Has anything new available to fix this issue?

Managing customer statements effortlessly during business operations is our mutual goal, Davis. Let me discuss how you can proceed with creating statements in QuickBooks Desktop (QBDT).

When choosing customers, it's best to limit your selection to a maximum of 4,500. To stay within this requirement, follow the instructions in the error message and select customers in smaller groups instead of using the All Customers.

I can see that this limit may interfere with your workflow. Therefore, I suggest sharing your thoughts with our development team about your experience using the platform. They will review it and could make helpful changes.

Here's how:

  1. Go to the Help option and choose Send Feedback Online.
  2. Select the Product Suggestion then enter your feedback.
  3. Once done, hit the Send Feedback button.

For more details with creating a customer statement, you can always look back on this article: Create and send customer statements in QuickBooks Desktop.

After customers have paid their balances, be sure to record it for accurate documentation of your business transactions.

We highly value your comments about our features in QBDT, Davis. Should you have any further concerns, please revisit this Community forum at any time. We're right here ready to support you on your QuickBooks journey.
