Help has arrived, @privatemarkhasti. I’m here to help so you can successfully change your legal name within QuickBooks.

Did you face any errors while changing your legal name? This will help me identify the issue and provide an accurate solution.

In QuickBooks Online, you don't need to create a new company to update legal information like a business name. It only takes a few easy steps. You can follow the instructions outlined below to accomplish it:

  1. Open your QuickBooks Online account.
  2. Go to the Gear icon at the top right and select Account and Settings under Your Company.
  3. Click on the Company tab.
  4. Look for the Company name section and click the Pencil icon to edit it.
  5. Update the legal name to the new one.
  6. Click Save and Done.

Please know that there are several places you need to update after making changes to your business info. The program won't automatically correct everything, so you'll want to edit them manually. See this guide for complete details: Change your business name, contact info, or EIN in QuickBooks Online.

Moreover, you can access this reference to learn how to fully set up your company, become familiar with your dashboard, and manage sign-in information: Get started and adjust settings after you sign up for QuickBooks Online.
