How do you get inactive items to show on a sales summary report for previous years?

You can go to the Reports menu and select Sales by Item Summary, Craig. I'll discuss this matter further.

By default, QuickBooks Desktop (QBDT) displays data for all your active and inactive items in the sales reports. Here's how to pull it up:

  1. Sign in to your QuickBooks Desktop
  2. Go to the Reports menu.
  3. Choose Sales, then select Sales by Item Summary.
  4. Click the Customize Report button.
  5. Set the appropriate reporting date and basis in the Display tab.
  6. From the Filters tab, locate the Item filter and ensure that the Show inactive inventory items option is checked.
  7. When you're done, click OK.

I’ve also included articles designed to enhance and streamline the reporting process within the program. These resources provide valuable insights, best practices, and step-by-step instructions that can significantly expedite your ability to generate comprehensive reports.

I'll always be available if you need more help with handling reports in QBDT. Don't hesitate to come back with additional questions or start a new thread in our forum. I'm here to help you.
