How can I batch import product costs?

I have successfully imported all of my products into QBO via .csv file, but I have not been able to include the cost associated with each product. Is there any way around having to manually input costs for my 500+ products? Thanks!

You have the option to re-upload your CSV file to ensure that the purchase cost is included before uploading, annkaye71. Allow me to guide you through importing product into QuickBooks Online (QBO).

Please note that the feature to directly upload a CSV file that includes purchase costs is only available in the Plus and Advanced versions of QBO. If you are currently using the Simple Start or Essentials version, we recommend importing your file via Google Sheets if available. Alternatively, consider upgrading to a higher version to take advantage of the direct upload feature and other advanced functionalities.

Before we begin, please ensure that the purchase cost is included to your CSV file. Here are the steps to upload your CSV file:

  1. Navigate to Gear icon and select Products and Service.
  2. Click the New dropdown, then Import.
  3. Select Browse to upload the CSV file, then click Next.
  4. Review the mapping of the column headers, and click Next.
  5. On the import stage, tick the Check this box to overwrite details of existing items with the same name and category.
  6. Click Save.

Using this method, you can efficiently upload your products along with their purchase costs while preventing duplication of existing products.
