How can I categorize an already completed bank transfer as a repayment of shareholder loan?  There is not a category selection available on the existing bank transaction.

The amount in your register depends on the transactions you've entered or added in QBO.

There may be a separate entry that's causing the duplicate. To check, we can review the entries in your Shareholder and Loan account.

Here's how:

1. Go to Transaction, then click Bank Transaction.
2. Select Chart of Accounts choose the accounts, and click the View register to check for duplicate transactions.
3. Click Delete if you have a duplicate transaction.

If you find the cause of the duplicate entry, you can review your bank statement and check if it's within your books. You can also review your audit log to know who created the transaction.

On the other hand, if there was a recorded transfer (that's causing the duplicate) with the same amount in QuickBooks, you can match it with the downloaded transaction. To do this, undo your categorized transaction and match it again. I'd recommend checking with your accountant for proper guidance in handling duplicate entries to ensure proper documentation.

Additionally, we encourage you to reconcile your accounts in QBO regularly. This helps monitor your income and expense transactions and detect possible errors accordingly.
