Question

How can I connect separate accounts at the same bank in QBSE? It sees the accounts but always says one or the other is [CLOSED], depending on the order I like them.

I can help you with adding separate bank accounts in QuickBooks Self-Employed account, @drepetto.

 

You can connect them as long as they have separate logins for an online banking account. You can add them from the Bank accounts page.

 

Here's how:

 

  1. Go to the Gear icon (⚙) and click on Bank accounts.
  2. In the search box, enter the name or URL of your bank. Then, select Connect another.
  3. Provide the credentials you use for your bank's website.
  4. Click on Connect securely.

Hello, that's what I do. But somehow QBSE doesn't treat it as a separate account. If I connect/log in as my business account at Chase, it puts [CLOSED] next to my personal account. If I connect/log in as my personal account at Chase, it puts [CLOSED] next to the business account. As far as Chase is concerned the two accounts have nothing to do with one another, they're totally separate. But QBSE seems to think I can only actively connect one or the other. It still sees the other account, but it labels it as [CLOSED] and stops importing info.

Hello there, @drepetto. Thanks for getting back and providing additional details.

 

If those Chase Business and Personal accounts are different, you should be able to connect your account to your QuickBooks Self-Employed (QBSE). To further check the issue, have you received a specific error message aside from it stating as closed?

 

In the meantime, I suggest logging in to your financial website to confirm that both accounts are active since QBSE is a read-only app. Once your bank account is connected, it will bring in transactions based on the transactions posted into your bank account. 

 

Once bank transactions download, you can start categorizing them to organize your income and expenses.
