Solved

How can I generate a 2021 income summary. More for the bank than taxes but despite my best effort I can't actually find what I invoiced for 2021...stumped.

Thanks for such a thorough guide.

Unfortunately I only use it for invoicing, so my profit & loss shows all zeros. Is there really no other way?

Thanks for updating us on this, chrisclark2577. I know it can be challenging when you can't pull up the needed data. I'm here to help you with that.

As of now, QuickBooks Self-Employed doesn't have a receivable or payable type of report. At the moment, the program only offers these reports:

  • Mileage log
  • Profit and Loss
  • Business and personal expenses
  • Receipts
  • Tag Totals
  • Tax summary

As a workaround, I'd suggest exporting each invoice as a PDF. Then, combine them in Excel to get the desired income summary report.

Here's how to export your invoices:

  1. Go to the Invoices menu.
  2. Filter the 2021 invoices.
  3. Under the Action column, click the drop-down icon.
  4. Click Export as PDF.
  5. Repeat the process for all your 2021 invoices.

To learn more about managing your sales transactions, please see this article: Create Invoices.

Additionally, I've included this article that'll help you learn more about the offered features in the program: QuickBooks Self-Employed Overview.

Please let me know if you have more questions while working on your QuickBooks Self-Employed file, chrisclark2577. We're always here to help you sort it out.

I should have clarified that I'm using Qb Self-Employed.

Good Morning @chrisclark2577.

Happy Friday! I’d be happy to help you get the information you need.

While there isn’t really a “financial summary”, it sounds like a Profit & Loss report may work for you. Let me show you how to see what financial reports are available, and you can determine which one is right for you. Sound good?

Here’s how to get reports in QuickBooks Self-Employed

  1. In QuickBooks Self-Employed, go to the Reports menu.
  2. Find the report you want to download.
  3. Select the time period or tax year from the dropdown.
  4. Select View or Download.
  5. Select the arrow icon ▼ and then the Print or Download.

I, personally, find this easier to view when logging in via a web browser, however, you can access whichever way works best for you.

Let me know if you have any additional questions about reports or anything else. I’m a quick click away and happy to help.
