Question

How can I get QB billpay to send remittances to vendors? Melio used to do this. But since the forced change, QB doesn't send remittances and I now get alot of complaints.

Hi there, @pneckels.

Thanks for taking the time to reach out to the QuickBooks Community. I hope you're having a great day so far.

I understand the importance of sending remittances. However, sending remittance that shows the bills included in the payment isn’t possible in QuickBooks Online (QBO). As a workaround, you can select the bills that have already been paid and export them to Excel. Let me show you how:

  1. Go to the Expenses menu.
  2. Select the Expenses tab.
  3. Click Filter, then click on Bill as the Transaction Type.
  4. Apply additional filters if required, then tap on Apply.
  5. Tick the transaction you wish to send remittance for.
  6. Click the Export to Excel icon.
  7. Save the file and attach it to your email.

Once done, attach the file to your email. This way, you can send your remittance via email.

You also have the option to look for a third-party app that integrates with QuickBooks and lets you send your remittance from your account. You can go to the Apps menu and look for an app from there, or visit: https://quickbooks.intuit.com/app/apps/home/.

In the meantime, I want to let you know I'm taking note of your concerns and sending this feedback to our Product Development Team. Our developers review each request and consider them all for future updates.

Please don't hesitate to let me know if there is anything else I can assist you with. Take care and have a great day ahead!

Tori - have there been any updates on this functionality?  This is a major need for all AP operations, so I'm both surprised and disappointed QB did not implement this.  Intuit forced us off of Melio and onto their far inferior BillPay system.

I'm glad you've joined this thread, @travise-claim. I see how the feature to send remittances via QuickBooks Bill Pay is a handful on your end.

Currently, this is unavailable in QuickBooks Bill Pay. In the meantime, you can follow the workaround my colleague suggested by exporting the paid bills to Excel and attaching the file to your email so you can send your remittances.

You can also look for a third-party application that matches the function of this feature in QuickBooks by going to the Apps section or clicking this link: QuickBooks Apps Store.

If you wish to add this to QuickBooks Bill Pay future updates, you can submit feedback via QuickBooks Online (QBO). Our product engineers will review this request and see if adding this will improve your experience to the system. Here's how:

  1. Sign in to your QBO account and go to the Settings.
  2. Select Feedback below the Profile column.
  3. Enter your product suggestions. Then, click on Next to submit it.

Also, I'll share this article to help you learn how vendors are notified when you schedule a bill payment: Learn about QuickBooks Bill Pay for QuickBooks Online.

Click the Reply button below if you have additional questions about how QuickBooks Bill Pay works in your vendor transactions. We'll be willing to lend a hand. Have a good day.

@pneckels

Another option, you can sign up for a free Melio account and sync with QBO. You can also get $100 cashback to pay the first bill.
