How can I invoice in excess of a line item amount on an estimate? It's within the total estimate amount, but QBO closes the line item when the amount is invoiced.

    Hi there, @eric24.

     

    You'll want to update your estimate before you convert it to an invoice. Or, you can add another line item in the invoice so you'll be able to save the changes.

      Thanks for the response.  It does not solve the problem, but good to know it's a limitation of QBO. 

       

      In my case, I need to keep the original estimate and bill in excess.  Quickbooks should add a switch, so we can set whether to enforce this restriction or allow excess billing.

        I have the same frustration and and trying to figure out how to over come this.

        Did you ever find a way around this? Ive asked them to update this. I also want to invoice beyond an estimate line item with me choosing whether to allow it to go over the estimate amount.

        Hello there, Jaystone2023.

         

        I can see the convenience of being able to create an invoice beyond the estimate line item.  With that, I suggest sharing this product ideas with our developers.  Here's how:

         

        1. Click the Gear icon.
        2. Under PROFILE, select Feedback.
        3. Enter a few words to describe your suggestions.
        4. Click Next.

         

        In the meantime, you'll have to modify the estimate before converting it to an invoice. I'll guide you through the steps.

         

        1. From the Sales tab, select Customers.
        2. Click the customer's name.
        3. Click the estimate transaction.
        4. Modify it.
        5. Click Save.
        6. Select Yes.

         

        From there, you can convert it to an invoice. Here's how:

         

        1. On the Estimate page, click Create invoice.
        2. Select Total of all estimate lines.
        3. Click Create invoice.
        4. Click Save and close.
