Hello there, @elaine_SF_2020.

Currently, we're unable to create an approval workflow in QuickBooks Online (QBO). Also, once you create a journal entry, it will automatically be posted in QuickBooks.

I'd also encourage checking our QuickBooks Blog from time to time to stay current with the latest feature available in QBO.

I've added this article about creating journal entry in QuickBooks Online: Create a journal entry.

Please click the Reply button if you have other questions. I'm always here happy to help. Take care!

Is this still the case in the current version of QB online?  This is such a basic need.

Thank you.

I see the advantage of having the option to set up an approval process workflow for journal entries, @pstromme1.

This feature is currently unavailable in all QuickBooks Online versions. As a workaround, you may prepare your data in Excel, import them in bulk as Fiat Lux - ASIA suggests, or use third-party apps that best suit your business needs.

Our team is constantly improving our product for a better user experience. I can see its relevance for your business, so I'd recommend sending feedback to our product engineers.

Our product development team will review your suggestion and may consider adding it in the next updates.

To submit your suggestion:

  1. Select the Gear icon, then choose Feedback.
  2. Type in your product suggestions.
  3. Select Next to submit.

Meanwhile, you can reverse or delete journal entries. When you do this, QuickBooks creates a new one to balance it. It serves as a record of the changes you've made.

You can tap the reply button if you need assistance managing your transactions in QuickBooks. I'm still here, ready to back you up anytime.

@elaine_SF_2020

You may prepare the JE data in XLS and someone else as Admin importing them in bulk by TP as the workaround.

QB still doesn’t have the journal entry approval workflow?

Hi, @Sbethine. I appreciate you seeking updates about the approval process for journal entries in QuickBooks Online (QBO). Let me give you updates about this feature.

I understand your interest in setting up an approval workflow for your journal entries. I want you to know that feature is not yet available for now. Rest assured our team are working nonstop to enhance the product and deliver the best experiences for all QuickBooks users. While it's unavailable, you may prepare your data in Excel, and then import them in bulk as suggested by Fiat Lux - ASIA.

Also, I suggest sending a feature request to our product engineers. This way, they can determine what enhancements and improvements are needed to make our product more effective and convenient for our users.

Here's how:

  1. Go to the Gear icon, then Feedback.
  2. Enter your comments or product suggestions.
  3. Tap Next to submit.

Once done, your valuable feedback goes to our Product Development team to help improve your QBO experience. You can track feature requests through the QuickBooks Online Feature Requests website.

On the other hand, I'm adding these materials for more tips while tracking journal entries in our system:
