How do I add a cost to each service I provide? I tried following the add service/products purchasing info. he purchase this product/service from a vendor Did not show up

I provide TV services. Each one of the services I provide has a cost. I am unable to add the coast.

Let me share additional information on why you don't have the option to add a cost on Service in QBO Essential.

 

The availability of a certain feature in QBO depends on the level of subscription. At this time, adding a cost for service in QB Essential is unavailable. I've already advised my colleague to update her answer on the previous reply.

 

You'll want to upgrade to QB Plus and Advanced version so you can add the cost. Please refer to this article on how to upgrade your subscription: Upgrade or downgrade your QuickBooks Online subscription.

I can walk you through how to add cost to each service in QuickBooks Online, @jmckinley

 

The option to add cost in service is available in QuickBooks Online Plus and Advanced. If you're using the Simple or Essentials versions, this feature will not show on the Product/Service Information page. 

 

If you're using the above-mentioned versions, let's unselect the box next to I sell this product/service to my customers. Doing this will help you add the cost for the item you'll create. 

 

To do this, here's how:

 

  1. Go to the Sales menu and select the Products and services tab.
  2. Choose the New button and click Service.
  3. Remove the checkmark next to the I sell this product/service to my customers option.
  4. The I purchase this product/service from a vendor checkbox will show.
  5. Enter the amount in the Cost field.
  6. Lastly, click Save and Close.

I have QuickBooks Essentials and that doesn't come up when I select one of the services I created. I tried creating a new one and it still doesn't show up.
